What is Engineered Ceramic?

The story of this form

Made to be lived with

A keepsake urn shaped as a woven basket with a small ball of yarn resting inside, made from engineered ceramic with a smooth, stone-white matte finish. The sculptural form reads as a familiar domestic object, suited to a shelf beside a favorite chair. The underside carries a discreet access point closed by a fitted cap. A tribute for a life spent making things by hand.

The material

What is Engineered Ceramic?

A composite: real ceramic particles held in a resin binder. The ceramic is what you feel, the weight and the coolness of stone. The binder holds it in one continuous form and makes it less brittle than fired pottery.

There is no glaze on it. The stone-white color and the velvet-matte surface are the material itself, running all the way through, so there is no coating to chip away.

Questions

Before you decide

What is Engineered Ceramic?

A composite: real ceramic particles held in a resin binder. The ceramic gives the piece its weight and its cool, stone-like touch. The binder makes it less brittle than fired pottery, so it tolerates being picked up and moved between homes.

Is engineered ceramic sturdy enough?

Yes. There is no glaze to craze or chip, and no fired clay body to crack along a hairline. The color runs all the way through, so a scuff does not expose a different color underneath. It is not indestructible, and it is worth handling with care.

When will it arrive?

Every piece is made to order and ships within five business days. Free UPS Ground arrives one to five days after that, with express options at checkout. We start yours once you choose it.

Can I personalize it?

Select pieces can be personalized with a name and dates through a guided step. Keepsakes come finished as they are. This page shows which applies.

What if it isn't right?

If a piece arrives damaged or not as described, reach out and we'll make it right, with a replacement or a refund.
